Happy National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day!

2 Apr

April 2nd is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day!

I am not a big peanut butter and jelly fan, but I am HUGE fan of the king of all sandwiches, peanut butter and fluff.  As an avid fluffernutter maker, I often run into a major dilemma and I am wondering if this afflicts makers of the PB&J as well—how to get the perfect proportion of peanut butter to other gooey filling.  It’s very easy to put too much peanut butter, making the sandwich difficult to chew.  However, if there’s too little peanut butter, you will be hungry less than an hour later.  And how to keep the bread from getting soggy?  This day is dedicated to solving the answers to these difficult life questions.

If you want to celebrate National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day today but want to avoid this timeless question, here are a few alternatives.

First is Smucker’s Goober.  This is peanut butter and jelly swirled together into one jar.  No need to worry about proportions and you only get one knife dirty.  Win/win.

Another option is Smucker’s Uncrustables, frozen PB&J pockets with no crust!

Finally, if you have a sweet tooth, check out Martha Stewart’s recipe for a Peanut Butter and Jelly cupcake here.
