Happy National Doughnut Day!

3 Jun

According to the Boston Globe, this day was originally founded in 1938 as a way to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during WWI.  Today, it is just an excuse to get a free doughnut from Dunkin Donuts with the purchase of a beverage.

Doughnuts are great.  They can be decorated for individual holidays and eaten on the go.  But even better is the doughnut’s little brother, the doughnut hole.

There is nothing better than bringing a box of munchkins to a middle school classroom.  1) Instant friends.  2) Perfect snack until lunch.  3) If you brought them, you can make someone else eat all the icky jelly ones.

Maybe that last one is just me, but doughnut holes are awesome–just the perfect amount of food to eat a million of them without feeling guilty.  Speaking of…I’m hungry.
